New York ( April, 2011) JSLI- The Jewish Spiritual Leader’s Institute, offers a unique course of study in the preparation of modern liberal rabbis. During the one full year of study which leads to Rabbinic Ordination, one need not stay away from family or loved ones. We gather online at our rabbinical seminary every week. Our students come to us from throughout the world!
The Jewish Spiritual Leaders Institute offers their students a warm and friendly ambiance- an ideal atmosphere to learn together and develop friendships. It is our goal to build a liberal community of Rabbis aimed at spreading the joy of Jewish thinking and rituals.
In the online rabbinical seminary program at JSLI, the focal point is on training the students to meet the needs of Jewish independent and interfaith families. The JSLI Rabbinical School Online provides a rolling admission policy wherein you can join the current Havurot once you are accepted into the program. JSLI explores varied range of subjects and the institute provides accepted students accepted with a full curriculum.
The Jewish Spiritual Leaders Institute (JSLI) offers an exclusive one year online curriculum which leads to rabbinic ordination or Semicha. The curriculum has been designed to meet the specific needs of 50% of the USA's Jewish population- the Unaffiliated and Interfaith.
Once you apply online, and are accepted into JSLI, you are required to attend weekly meetings of your study group through video conferencing. Before you are granted a "semicha as Rabbi" you will be trained to lead liberal Shabbat Morning and Evening Services, Festival and High Holy Day Services, as well as all Jewish Life-Cycle ceremonies.
JSLI welcomes everyone having varied skill sets and life experiences with open arms. The JSLI community believes in enhancing learning by sharing lifetime experiences with each other. The students are required to lead Havrutah sessions in their areas of proficiency as seen through a Jewish lens. The JSLI rabbinic ordination is applicable in all 50 States. This permits you to register with applicable City Clerks enabling you to legally carry out wedding ceremonies and perform all Jewish Life-Cycle ceremonies.
JSLI offers two Semesters during the year beginning in September and January. Ordination ceremonies are held during a retreat weekend in Florida in January and Vermont in August.
