A switched on ‘e-fast food’ service based in Birmingham now ranks among market leaders in helping people to order takeaways - over the internet.
More couples are eating at home, presenting a challenge to restaurants – but Meal2Go’s online service is bucking the downturn.
The service, Meal2Go is meeting the recession’s demand for budget meals, bringing new business to its clients in the fast food trade.
It allows food outlets and restaurants to take on competition from big pizza and burger chains by plugging into a national database - where diners can click a button to find tailor-made local meals.
In an ‘e-everything’ society, people are preferring to order meals online, rather than phoning, for rapid delivery, and correct orders every time: they have never missed a bags of chips, and even collect bonus points, for discount on their next meal.
The Hockley-based Meal2Go set up by Aston University graduate Marcus Rezaei (crct) just over four years ago, employs 23 people, and already supports more than 2,190 restaurants and takeaways, including Chinese, Indian, Thai, Italian and Pizza Delivery.
Managing Director Marcus Rezaei, of Birmingham, said: “We are up among the global market leaders: it has grown so fast, from our first year when we were happy with 100 restaurants – now they are calling us to sign up."
Making Meal2go work through the internet increases their footfall, and obviously their profits. Customers are happy because they don’t have mistakes and lost orders.
"We have had some lovely responses from diners: for instance, Kat Harding-Roberts, from Cardiff, told us: ‘This is a brilliant way of ordering takeaway meals."
Another user said: “It was so convenient, because it made it so easy to get the meal we wanted, and I order everything online because it’s better value. Even the meal from a local takeaway works out cheaper with the discount – and our meal was delivered rapidly and right first time.”
