Portland’s own, Miriam’s Well, currently the hottest band in the Northwest, rocked at Plew’s Brews Friday night, raising about $5,000 toward the $12,300 club owner Robby Holmes will need for a corneal transplant threatening blindness in one eye. The 38-year old founder of Sasa Music Presents in Portland told the Oregonian that he was injured by a BB pellet shot by a neighborhood boy he knew in his hometown of Ida Grove, Iowa, causing multiple surgeries and a corneal transplant, eventually getting worse and now threatening blindness.
Mir German, leader of Miriam’s Well, plans to dedicate the band’s fee for another show, on April 23rd, at Slim’s (8635 N. Lombard Street, St. John’s), show at 8 PM. Proceeds will be added to the fund for Robby’s eye surgery. “Everybody loves him, He is incredibly well-loved, “Miriam said.
Miriam’s Well ( http://www.miriamswellmusic.com )is a unique blend of rock and soul that holds echoes of decades gone by, when rock was raw, powerful and unprocessed. Singer and songwriter Mir German, doesn't play a set so much as embody it, pulling the music from a deeper place ' a well of sound and images, emotion and power, her voice riding a ragged edge of truth bringing depth and dimension to every song.
Mir and partner Mark Bowden, co-writer/producer/guitarist, are an inseparable team of melody and groove. Miriam’s Well is their vision combined with the best musical talent Portland has to offer. What you get at a show isn't just a performance...it's an experience that dissolves the boundary between audience and band. It pulls you into the moment and holds you there.
After international acclaim for their indie release CD “Indians and Clowns,” Miriam’s Well has begin recording songs for a new CD, and is prepping for an extensive May-June tour of clubs and festivals throughout the Western US.
