Copenhagen, Denmark, June 01, 2011 -- Sustainable forestry investment firm, Greenwood Management, has revealed its plans to open an office in Costa Rica.
The successful forestry operator and investment firm already runs several extremely successful and popular plantations in Brazil. The company has recently closed its Brazilian acacia and eucalyptus project to new investors after the last of the plots were sold.
Greenwood is now looking to expand into Costa Rica, which has been called the 'Silicon Valley of Central America' in recent years following a huge amount of investment from large international firms, such as Microsoft, intel and Acer. The country has been given a clean bill of health in terms of its economy and its social policies by the World Bank. It added that Costa Rica has one of the “most stable and robust” democracies in the region and a very healthy rate of economic growth to top it all off.
However, it is not just the economic factors that Greenwood Management have been taking into account. The environment is perfect for establishing plantations. The government of the country has also been eager to attract foreign investment in sustainable plantations of timber such as teak, which is popular in the furniture industry and can be exported easily, to make money for Costa Rica and for investors looking for tangible, ethical assets as a safe haven for their money.
“With so many positive indicators that Costa Rica really is the next big thing when it comes to investment opportunities, we’d be mad to miss the chance to establish plantations there.” explained a Greenwood Management spokesperson.
He added, “We have sold out of our projects in Brazil in no time at all and after several trips to the country, we believe our plantations in Costa Rica will be just as popular with investors from all over the world."
