Portland, OR - June 13, 2011 -- Young rock musicians in Vancouver, Washington are excited. There's a new place to play, and it's called The White Elephant. Out on the east side, in Hockinson, The White Elephant is rapidly becoming the "go-to" place for rockers of all ages - and their families - to come and enjoy some excellent local rock & roll.
"The White Elephant is our gift to the families of Vancouver," said Michael Lind, owner and manager of The White Elephant. "It's been my dream, as a father, to have a place where my kids can jam. I saw that other families wanted the same kind of venue, so we decided to create a safe, alcohol and drug-free place where the whole family could come out and enjoy some rock & roll."
It's always been a little tough for high-school age musicians to find a place to play, other than somebody's garage. So having a safe, supportive location to have a concert is a real help for budding Vancouver-area musicians. Ticket prices at more traditional venues have been an issue, too.
Hockinson's Theater of Rock & Roll, The White Elephant (http://www.The-White-Elephant.org), is perfectly positioned to provide that kind of venue for local musicians, offering rock-bottom ticket prices, and a commitment to local talent.
Defacto house band, Nazfiratu, really seems to love the hall, and can be found playing there almost every weekend. Guitarist Sean said, "This is my favorite venue! I like the stage, I like the [dance] floor... it's great!" Lead singer Vox agrees: "It's awesome! I love the energy!"

The White Elephant is proud to be bringing a variety of music and comedy events to Hockinson throughout 2011 (http://The-White-Elephant.org/upcoming-shows.html). In addition to the nationally-known artists who will be performing, the hall is open for local performers, 17 years and under, every Thursday night.
