Visit ISHEID Booth at IAS Conference in Rome This Week
The international AIDS Society conference his held in Rome this week. We have a booth to promote the ISHEID meeting at this event.

Rome, Italy, July 19, 2011 -- The 6th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention takes place this week, July 17-20 in Rome, Italy. This is the world's largest open conference on HIV and AIDS, and important research and information is disseminated at this biennial event. Over 5,000 delegates from around the world will descend on the Auditorium Parco della Musica to share their experiences researching, investigation, or even living with HIV. The International Symposium on HIV and Emerging Infectious Diseases (ISHEID) will also be there, as a booth will be set up at the conference's exhibition area to give visitors more information about ISHEID's upcoming biennial symposium of its own, being held in France on May 23-25, 2012.
The reason for being at IAS should readily be evident. The two events occur in alternating years, and the two events discuss similar material that will attract many of the same physicians, researchers, and clinicians. The same faces one might see in Italy this July will probably be in France next May. Therefore, it's important to ISHEID to keep HIV researchers updated on new presentations that might be delivered at the symposium, as well as using the open forum to showcase what ISHEID is all about. Since the actual symposium is not open to the public and the IAS Conference is, this is the prime opportunity for members of ISHEID to interact with the general public and give them a glimpse of what goes on during an ISHEID symposium.
The main topics of the upcoming symposium are rather diverse: HIV pharmacology; preventing HIV transmission; antiretroviral therapy (ART); HIV infection and how HIV reservoirs play a key role; human rights and the access patients have to HIV care; the ongoing quest to find a cure for HIV; viral hepatitis; and other emerging infectious diseases. Several presentations will be given on each topic, and it's shaping up to be three solid days of information and research in a rather pleasant location in France in May—the right time of year to be there.
The booth is being used as a promotional tool and as an information kiosk of sorts. We invite all participants and visitors to stop by the ISHEID booth and have a chat with us.
