Dallas, Texas - July 2011 - The southwest United States has seen an alarming number of consecutive days reaching temperatures of 100 degrees or more this summer. These record highs are forcing the residents of many southwestern states and the surrounding areas to stay indoors and turn up the air conditioning. In a time when all too many are feeling the sting of the country’s current financial woes, the unnecessary energy expenses caused by the heat wave are an unwelcome guest.
In an attempt to alleviate some of the financial burden brought about by the heat crisis, Kozy Services of Dallas, Texas is offering six inches of free insulation with the purchase of a foil radiant barrier.
When the sun beats down on your home it heats up your roof tremendously. The heat is trapped in the attic and acts as a sort of heat blanket, heating up your entire home and making it more difficult for your air conditioner to combat the soaring temperatures. The purpose of a radiant barrier is to reflect the heat that would normally enter your attic and keep as much of it as possible from entering your home. In the winter, radiant barriers perform the opposite function. They help retain heat within the home rather than letting it escape into the atmosphere and once again wreak havoc on your energy bill.
A foil radiant barrier is the most cost-effective type of radiant barrier currently on the market. It can reflect as much as 97 percent of radiant heat, lower attic temperatures by about 40 percent, and save you up to 30 percent off of your electricity bill.
A radiant barrier tax credit originally set in place in 2005 remains in effect for this year. Homeowners may receive a tax credit for 10 percent of the total cost of materials with a $500 ceiling (provided the $500 has not already been exhausted between 2005 and 2010). The system must be installed within the 2011 calendar year to be eligible for the tax credit. The cost of installation is not covered under the tax credit provision.
Kozy Services extends heating, cooling, plumbing, insulation, air duct, and indoor air quality services. Their special offering of six inches of free insulation with the purchase of a foil radiant barrier will run through August 22, 2011. Call now for immediate relief and to be ready for winter.
