San Diego, CA, United States (pr4links.com) 28/07/2011
San Diego, CA, July 28, 2011 -- Award winning-artist Dottie Stanley’s Africa Collection is currently on display at Pimento Fine Art Gallery at Olive PR Solutions, Inc. The public is invited to attend an artist reception on Wednesday, August 10 from 6pm to 8pm. Thirty percent of sales from the reception will benefit “Olive Us Deserve to Learn,” a year-long campaign aimed at creatively raising funds for the Indigenous Education Foundation of Tanzania (IEFT). IEFT is a community-collaborative organization, providing quality, affordable education to under-served children in rural Tanzania, East Africa. The campaign has the goal of raising funds necessary to expand on the Orkeeswa Secondary School to assist IEFT in providing more children with access to education. Dottie will also be donating a piece of artwork to the campaign for auction.

Dottie’s Africa Collection was inspired by her personal journey and interaction with the Masai people of Kenya. “The Masai people have a deep love of their tribal culture and their sense of values. In spite of the primitive, hard lives they lead, they have a strong sense of purpose- one of them being that they create many children, and another is wanting to look beautiful through bright colored clothing and jewelry they create,” said Dottie.

“I was inspired by this culture that, to many of us, is extreme hardship, but to them a natural way of life, and through all of their difficulties in these primitive villages, their spirits soar and touch your soul.”

The exhibition is currently on display at Pimento Fine Art, the artist reception will take place Wednesday, August 10 from 6pm to 8pm.

Guests are asked to R.S.V.P. by emailing info@oliveprsolutions.com.

About Dottie Stanley:
Dottie’s passion for painting started as a young child, and was enhanced when she began studying portraits, figures and still life with Arthur Maynard at the Ridgewood Art Institute in New Jersey. Although not well known he is considered a master being a student of Frank Vincent DuMonde, in turn a protégée and contemporary of Winslow Homer.

Some of the notable artists with whom she has studied are: Everett Raymond Kinstler, official White House and The Smithsonian portraitist; David Leffel of Taos, New Mexico; sculptor Stephen DeStaebler of the San Francisco Art Institute; Harvey Dinnerstein, Art Students League, New York City; William Scott Jennings of Sedona, AZ, Ken Auster of Laguna Beach, CA, and Mary Beth McKenzie and Wolf Kahn of New York City.

Her greatest enthusiasm is working with figures, and she has had the opportunity to do so worldwide. She has developed art featuring the people who work in market places in Italy, Mexico, Kenya and Columbia – including the famed coffee man of Columbia. Native Americans are proud and fascinating people and her art features the Navajo, Apache and Plains nations. Homeless people also exhibit pride in spite of their circumstances and she has presented their character in her series about the homeless. Pride is international, and in Kenya she was thrilled to artistically capture the people, particularly the Masai.

Dottie uses her art to help charities help women through fund-raising events. For that and because of her financial investment background as a certified financial manager which she also uses to help women world-wide, she received a 2007 Living Legacy Award from the Women’s International Center. She is a Fellow of the American Artists Professional League. She is also a member of the Salmagundi Club of New York; the Allied Artists of America; Oil Painters of America; the San Diego Museum of Fine Arts Artists Guild. She is past President and Life Member of the La Jolla (California) Art Association and the founding President/Director of the Allied Artists’ Association of San Diego. She has been a member of the Art Students League of New York, the Santa Rosa (California) Art Guild, The Market Street Group (of San Diego), and the San Diego Art Institute. In 2010, she was chosen by Kennedy Publishing as one of the best of 200 oil painters in the country and was featured in their book, “The Best of America Oil Painters, 2010.” She will be featured again in 2011 in a book “The Best of the Best.”

Dottie’s works are in collections throughout the United States, Italy and Mexico, and are award winners in international and national juried shows. They have also been exhibited in museums, including the San Diego Museum of Art and the Bonita (California) Cultural Museum and Art Center. In addition, she has her studio in La Jolla.

About Olive Us Deserve To Learn:
Olive PR Solutions, Inc. and Feeding the Soul Foundation are partnering to present a yearlong campaign called “Olive Us Deserve To Learn.” These community based events will share one common theme – creative generosity. All the proceeds will benefit The Indigenous Education Foundation of Tanzania (IEFT), a community-collaborative organization, providing quality, affordable education to under-served children in rural Tanzania, East Africa.

The events will range from benefit concerts, to professional speaking engagements, dinners, art exhibitions, and more. Every event will focus on educating the community about the needs of IEFT and how each individual has the power to make a difference.

About Indigenous Education Foundation of Tanzania (IEFT):
IEFT is a community-collaborative organization, providing quality, affordable education to under-served children in rural Tanzania, East Africa. Through the organization’s collaborative model involving both village government and tribal leadership, IEFT staff members work alongside community members in the implementation of the organization’s projects. Straying from the common “aid giving” model, IEFT believes in empowering community members by providing youth with the knowledge and skills to create positive change within their own communities. Education is the key in breaking the cycle of extreme poverty.

Through the development of Orkeeswa Secondary School in the Arusha Region of northern Tanzania, IEFT provides secondary education to children who have no hope of continuing their education past primary school.

About Feeding the Soul Foundation:
Events range from coffee shop shows of 60 people or less to grand events at large theaters. Often, they tie additional creative opportunities and weave their love of cooking, baking and food into the events -- producing art shows, family dinners, craft fairs, etc. as part of the fun. Feeding the Soul works with both established artists and up-and-comers, providing them with an opportunity to give back to their community and support causes they are passionate about.

Their fund-raising events support other charities and causes, and each show or series has a chosen beneficiary. Their mission emphasizes both food (feeding the hungry, promoting food / nutrition education and outreach) and music (supporting and supplementing arts classes in schools, promoting local artists and musicians), however they do not restrict the kinds of charities to which they donate. In some instances, they design an event for artists inspired by a particular cause or organization, or select artists for a cause that inspires them.
