The feature film PITCHING HOPE announced its completion on July 4, 2011. PITCHING HOPE is the first feature film that captures the sport of horseshoes in a fictional, narrative, film.

Pahrump, NV, August 05, 2011 -- PITCHING HOPE - the first narrative, feature film, based around the sport of horseshoes, announced officially the completion of the project on July 4, 2011. While also in the month of July, the National Horseshoe Pitching Association is hosted their 2011 World Tournament in Monroe, LA from July 18-30, 2011.
PITCHING HOPE was written, directed, and edited by Tony Mendoza, who is an independent filmmaker, out of Pahrump, NV. While serving in the Army National Guard, conducting combat operations in Afghanistan from mid 2009 through early 2010, Mendoza finalized the script, conducted online auditions through YouTube, and secured filming locations, all on his off time. Production began 3 weeks later, after his return to the U.S. in April 2010.
He was able to secure lead actress Joni Adahl (Samantha Moreno) from North Dakota, who’s experience includes production work on a few short films produced in Florida. Timothy Perez (Angelo Moreno), who plays Samantha’s father, resides in the Atlanta, GA area. His acting credits range from television sitcoms, public service announcements, and his recent appearance on the new show “Necessary Roughness.” Anita Cordell (Gloria Moreno) played the additional female lead as both Angelo’s wife and Samantha’s step mother. From Kansas City, KS, Anita has done lots of commercial work and was part of the cast with the two-Time Emmy® award winning Steve & Kathy Show. The music score was composed in Australia by Ric Mills with his company Under Score Production Music. PITCHING HOPE was everyone’s freshman, feature film project.
Since the completion of the film, the music video for PITCHING HOPE, was selected as one of the top 7 finalist at the XPMedia Film Festival, held in August 2011, in Tempe, AZ. The Sundance Film Festival has received PITCHING HOPE’s submission while the film also received a 4 out of 5 dove rating through the Dove Foundation (http://www.dove.org/reviewpopup.asp?Unique_ID=8898) for its family friendly content.

Short Synopsis
After losing her college scholarship, a young, female, student is forced to compete in an underground, high stakes, horseshoe tournament to win back her tuition.
