"Saddam Hussein, the capture of Saddam, Saddams rise to power"
In life and in death Saddam Hussein has been one of the most controversial leaders of the Arab world of the 20th century. As a leader he was very ambitious for himself and for his country. Some felt he had no conscious and showed subdued but firm aggression towards adversaries, they even believed to have seen a paranoid gleam in his eyes. In short he was a man of determination and knew how to control the masses as well. His mind functioned very well in political tally and management which gave him a fair enough idea how to survive among opponents and get political mileage. Like a true man of the Arab world he was very conscious of his reputation and honor. His stretcher as a leader was enhanced when he dealt in his own way with the West.
He belonged to a family of sheep-herders and lived in a mud-brick house at Tikrit of Saladdin Province situated towards north-west of Baghdad. His Uncle a staunch believer in Iraqi unity belonged to Iraqi Army and was called Khayrallah Tulfah; he influenced the mind of the young lad who joined Arab Baath Socialist Party at a young age of 19. However Saddam Hussein’s formal entry into active politics began in 1959 when PM of Iraq Abudul Karim Kassim was killed in a plot. After this Saddam Hussein escaped to Syria traveled to Egypt and completed his law degree in Cairo in 1963. In the same year he returned to his country. Here he played active political role in different capacity as a party worker. He reached the zenith of his political career in 1979 when at the age of 42 he became commander-in-chief of the defense forces.
He is remembered with love, hatred and disgust. In his tenure as the President of the country he created laws that gave more liberty to women as a result they were seen occupying vital positions in the country. The change to western inspired legal system was a very pioneering move in the Arab World which is ruled by Islamic Laws. He galvanized patriotic spirit in the country when he talked of the creditable and honourable history of the land and its contribution to the Arab world; a secular who could align with the traditional Muslims and forge ahead in this fast progressive world. This leader has created a place for him in the world history.
