Kathleen Albertson, licensed acupuncturist and herbalist conducted an 8 hour educational seminar for other acupuncture professionals on “The Treatment of Menstrual and Menopausal Disorders Using Traditional Chinese Medicine.” Dr. Albertson also holds a PhD in Holistic Medicine. “She is the author of “Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine ( http://www.orangecountyacupuncture.com ) for Women’s Health: Bridging the Gap Between Western and Eastern Medicine. She stated, “The better we inform our patients on the benefits of uniting Western and Eastern medicine, the better patient health care will be.”
Traditional Chinese medicine has a long successful history in treating PMS, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and painful or absent menstruation. Women suffer endlessly with menstrual problems, and western medicine only offers medications, or surgeries. She addressed the key points that treating the root of the problem resolves many imbalances, improving the quality of life for thousands of women. She discussed the side effects of long term birth control among US women and how it contributes to reproductive disorders. Irregular menstruation is a leading cause of infertility in the US leaving no choice but adoption, surrogacy, or IVF for many couples. By addressing these problems earlier in a woman’s reproductive cycle---women in their twenties; many should be able to conceive naturally.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) includes the use of acupuncture ( http://www.orangecountyacupuncture.com ), and Chinese herbal formulas made uniquely and specifically for each patient. She outlined treatment plans and herbal medicine ( http://www.orangecountyacupuncture.com ) to better educate other licensed acupuncturists. “TCM is undervalued and underutilized as primary health care in the US. Using more of TCM, significantly improves patient outcomes. The live webinar was held on October 2nd, 2011 and hosted by Lotus Institute of Integrative Medicine, Industry. CA. Dr. Albertson is in private practice in Irvine, CA and is available for consultation and treatment (949-861-8901).
