At a recent seminar on medical tourism, it was claimed that Costa Rica and Mexico were the favorite destination for medical tourists in America and Canada. And of all prevalent fields, dentistry seems to be the torch bearer. Low cost of dental treatment and a superior health care system seems to be the major factor that influences their decision. Medical costs are about 50 to 60 per cent cheaper here than in the US. It is relatively easy and effective to engage a Costa Rica dentist that to spend hundreds of dollars and yet face a wait list that could take weeks to clear. It also serves a dual purpose.
"It's easy to combine a vacation holiday along with the treatment. You can fly into San Jose airport, book yourself a luxury hotel, set up a dentist's appointment and enjoy the scenery around the place until it is time for the appointment, and yet not spend more than you would when you meet your local dentist," says Sebastian Brown, a Costa Rica Dentist. For the same fees as that of your local dentist, you can not only get treated from the best Costa Rica dentist, but also plan a weeklong vacation to the country," adds Sebastian. It is very common for dentists and other medical professionals to seek certifications, experience, and training in the US and Canada and hence quality isn't really a concern. In fact, most hospitals and clinics are accredited.
Vacationing is fun, thanks to the wonderful climate, beautiful beaches, diverse flora and fauna, and breathtaking rainforest view. Costa Rica also has the lowest crime rate in Central America.
