Spring Festivals Along Louisiana's Coast
Upcoming spring festivals along Louisiana's coast are expected to exceed tourist numbers from previous years in the Bayou State following a successful Mardi Gras 2012.

As the warmer weather returns to the Bayou State, local residents and visitors are welcoming the season of spring festivals along Louisiana's coast line. Seafood, crawfish, and music festivals will be some of the fares on offer, highlighting traditional Cajun heritage and culinary delights throughout local parishes in Louisiana.
New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu called this year's Mardi Gras a historic one for the city; a sure confidence boost for spring festivals planned along Louisiana's coast. "Simply stated, Mardi Gras 2012 rocked!" the Mayor said. "Last year the ten days of events pumped over $300 million into the city's economy. Although we don't have the final numbers [for 2012] yet, we expect that number to be bigger."
Jefferson Parish will be celebrating not one, but two Saint Patrick's Day parades, while Calcasieu Parish is hosting a pirate-themed Contraband Days Festival in the opening weeks of May. As crawfish season kicks off in March and April, there will be a variety of Crawfish festivals across the coast. St. Tammary Parish will also be honoring their annual Dragonboat Festival, in which tall, decorated ships will be parade in celebration of the coastal heritage. In early March, Natchitoches will begin, laying out a red-carpet welcome for spring in the form of Bloomin' on the Bricks, a festival of color and culture. In the northwestern part of the state, spring will be welcomed with the Louisiana Redbud festival in Vivian.
"The stars have truly aligned for the third Bayou Country Superfest, confirming the event as one of the 'must-see' festivals," said Quint Davis, producer/director of the festival. "The powerhouse combination of so many Country superstars, a massive Southern 'let the good times roll' audience, and the electrified nighttime atmosphere of LSU's Tiger Stadium, make Baton Rouge the only place to be on Memorial Day Weekend."
The spring festivals are expected to exceed turnout from previous years, and a strong family-themed focus has been placed on all contributing activities.
