Cecilia Devenney from Waverley Road, Reading has been playing the Berkshire Hospice Lottery since its start in September 2009 and won no less than 5 times! Four lots of £20 and then last month she won the first prize of £750! She said “I had a feeling that I might have won” and went online to check the winning numbers at www.berks-hospice-lottery.org.uk to find she had!

Cecilia is originally from County Tyrone, Northern Ireland but now lives locally with her husband and two children in Waverley Road, Reading, just a stone’s throw from the Duchess of Kent House Hospice. Her life has been touched by a friend’s mother who died at the Hospice last July which was a year to the day that her own father had died from cancer back in Ireland. Recently a close friend of hers has been diagnosed with breast cancer and she feels very strongly about supporting hospice and cancer care locally and is happy knowing she is giving something back to the Charity.

Her previous winnings were actually put back into good causes as she spent her winnings at a local charity shop! This £750 win is going towards a holiday this August in Ibiza with her two children so has come in very handy indeed. Cecelia obviously has the ‘Luck of the Irish’ and has encouraged all her friends to join the Berkshire Hospice Lottery and apparently they’re filling in their direct debit forms as we speak! Playing the Berkshire Hospice Lottery costs just £1 per week and at the time of writing there is an amazing £2,800 to be won in the rollover, as well as the usual weekly prizes of £1,000.
