SendThisFile® today is announcing unrestricted file size transfers in the web browser.
"With SendThisFile, you can send large files of any size without any special software," said Scott Sexton, Vice President of SendThisFile. "Our solution gives customers the flexibility and power of very large file transfers from within the web browser."
Web browser-based email solutions rely on the underlying web browser technology. Web browsers such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla FireFox, Google Chrome, and Apple Safari each limit the transmission of files over the Internet, or file transfers, to just 2 gigabytes. Any web-based email service or file transfer service is constrained by this limitation.
Even corporate email systems, with their own file servers and administrators, will limit file attachment sizes, often for costs incurred by the additional storage required from the network effect. For instance, a 2 gigabyte email sent from a user to 10 email recipients will consume 22 gigabytes of storage on the email server. Corporate email users often resort to mailing USB thumb drives or installing cumbersome FTP software to send large files.
"Both corporate and free email systems routinely limit the size of email attachments to 2 gigabytes," said John Stephens Vice President of SendThisFile."Our enhanced mode allows us to break through the 2 gigabyte barrier allowing for file transfers of virtually unlimited size."
SendThisFile's development team wrote a completely new enhanced file sending mode from the ground up. Powered by a Java-based applet, a technology universally available to all web browsers and platforms, the new enhanced mode also brings other improvements as well, including drag-and-drop file selection, folder sending, and automatic file compression.
Unlimited file size transfers are available today to all paid SendThisFile customers.
