OSHA has regulated that these workers have to receive the Hazwoper training depending upon the level of activities taking place at the work sites.
This four hour course is especially for those workers who are most likely to discover a release of hazardous substances and initiate a response process by reporting it to the correct authorities. It has been developed with the aim of protecting the workers and ensuring their safety and well being.
In this course, the workers will be introduced to the OSH act. They will learn all about the Hazardous Waste Operation and the emergency responses. The Hazard Communication Standard has been discussed in great detail. The different types of biological and environmental hazards will be taught to the trainees. Identifying and analyzing various hazards are some of the other topics covered in this course.
It is also important for employees to learn all about site characterization before they start working as first responders to hazardous situations. We have kept this in mind while structuring this course and have included an onsite review, off site characterization and documentation as the topics. Apart from that the Hazwoper First Responder Course also covers subjects like site work zone, site protection and site control.
A set of quizzes has been included at the end of each chapter. A minimum of 70 per cent is required to move on to the next chapter. The final exam requires the same minimum score of 70 per cent.
