San Diego, CA, December 29, 2010 -- Chassis Plans, Systems Engineered to Perform®, a leader in providing rugged rackmount systems to the military and other challenging environments, today introduced the enhanced CCX-17 and CCX-19 Military Grade 1U Rackmount LCD Keyboard drawers with available 97-key Nema 4 sealed keyboards with touchpad pointing devices. These products are designed and manufactured in the USA.
The original CCX-17 and -19 rackmount keyboards were released a year ago with a NEMA 4 sealed keyboard providing a Hula Point mouse device. While well received and installed in several prestigious programs, some customers expressed a preference for a touch pad pointing device and Chassis Plans responded with these new models.
The LCD displays are 17- or 19-inch TFT providing 1280x1024 resolution. For improved contrast and ease of use, a glass Anti-Reflective (AR) filter is bonded to the LCD for superior contrast in high bright environments. An additional layer, also bonded, provides an ITR EMI filter across the face of the display. Three revision controlled military grade Genesis LCD controllers are available providing a mix of features with aRGB VGA, DVI-D, DVI-D and video inputs. Picture-In-Picture can be supported by one of the controllers. These mil-grade controllers are conformal coated for environmental and shock/vibration protection and support operating temperatures of -40 to +80 Deg C.
The new 97-key silicon rubber keyboard provides full travel with tactile feedback for easy of typing and is sealed to NEMA-4 / IP65 standards. This provides a spill proof system impervious to spills such as Coke or coffee, common in the rugged environments these are installed into. The keyboard is also backlit for use in low light situations.
The pointing device is a NEMA-4 sealed touch pad built into the keyboard and provides two 'mouse' buttons.
The units are constructed of 5052-H32 aluminum alloy. The front panel is milled from a solid 1/4" aluminum billet. Stainless steel fasteners are used throughout and thread into self locking nuts. The front handle folds into a pocket to protect the user and captive screws hold the unit closed in the rack. The unit is 24.4-inches deep including the provided cable management arm. Rugged friction slides are provided. Friction slides were selected as more rugged than ball bearing slides and less prone to jamming due to dust and dirt in the balls. The systems are designed to meet and being tested to 901D and 810G.
A companion family of rugged KVMs provide 4 and 8 ports of DVI-D or VGA inputs with USB keyboard/mouse connection. Tempest qualified KVMs can be provided for Red/Black signal separation. The KVMs can be controlled via the keyboard front panel membrane switch, via keyboard shortcut commands, or remotely via RS232 commands. Front panel LED port selection indicators are provided.
Native power is +12VDC and a rack mount 110/220VAC supply is provided. Options are available for a vehicular 12VDC transient filter, Mil-Std-704/1275 28VDC power, and -48VDC inputs.
All components were selected for long availability for assured consistent delivery through multi-year programs. Revision and configuration control are standard across Chassis Plans product lines.
