The Royal Lahaina, Maui's leading resort, recently released an article discussing Hawaii's famous Kaanapali Beach, which has been voted in the past as America's best beach. The beach, like other treasured destinations in the area, once served as a retreat for Hawaiian royalty, but now acts as a haven for tourists and the Hollywood filming industry. The article, which is titled: Maui is a Hollywood Favorite for On-Location Filming!, goes on to emphasize the beachfront and tropical scenery within the area.
While Hollywood rarely identifies Maui and the Kaanapali Beach region as the filming location, Lahaina was actually featured within the 1958 film Twilight for the Gods. Other prominent Hollywood films utilized the pristine filming location to satisfy the visual needs of the films.
According to sources, this resort was actually the first planned resort in Maui. In addition to the Royal Lahaina Hotel, there are four other hotels and six condominium villages present in the area.
