Twenty per cent of all 999 calls are related to Domestic Violence
According to latest figures, one in five of all 999 police calls are related to domestic violence.

According to latest figures, one in five of all 999 police calls are related to domestic violence. The highest calls came from Merseyside, making up 21 per cent of emergency calls.
Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has called for a new organisation to be set up to tackle this issue.

'What is worrying about this article is the headline - not the fact that one in five calls are from victims of domestic violence - but the fact that it is being highlighted as a SHOCK! Also more alarmingly is the fact it is reported that Yvette Cooper has also called for immediate action over hidden crime.
"Domestic Violence is only a hidden crime if Ministers wish to see it as such!
Her call coincides with events for International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, which is also widely known and recognised as White Ribbon Day which happens annually 25th November every year.
"International Day Against Violence Against Women first came into existence in 1981 due to events surrounding the death of the Mirabel sisters, and women came together to agree to hold an annual day of protest.
"In 1991 the first White ribbon campaign was launched in Canada by men working to end violence against women.
"In 1998 the organisation WOMANKIND launched the first White Ribbon Day in the UK.
"Since 1998 in my role as a then Police Domestic Violence Officer and also in my position at that time as a Chair of a Domestic Violence Forum we embraced the 25th November as an opportunity to raise awareness of and around domestic violence.
"Throughout my time as a police officer with Essex Police 1990 - 2006 the majority of incidents we were called to deal with were of a domestic violence nature."
"Even the first British Crime Survey highlighted the fact that domestic violence accounted for a quarter of all reported violence crime.
"Domestic Violence isn't something new and sadly the most vocal Ministers become around this issue is in the lead up to 25th November each year, and the subsequent 16 days of action that it kick starts and then sadly as it does each year the focus changes onto something a little more topical."
