Advanced Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Systems Design Class Announced by infinite Solar Inc

Infinite Solar Inc, a Philadelphia based solar energy training facility announces a new 2 -day class in advanced solar PV systems design.
Philadelphia, PA, United States (pr4links.com) 26/01/2011
Philadelphia, PA ( pr4links ) January 25, 2011 – Infinite Solar Inc recently announced its plans for introducing an advanced course in Photovoltaic (PV) System Design into its curriculum. The Philadelphia based school anticipates holding their first 2 day class in Advanced PV Systems Design at their Philadelphia campus on March 19, 2011.

Recognizing a need among engineers, installers and architects for a comprehensive course of instruction on PV system design ( http://www.solarschoolpa.com ), the NABCEP approved training facility created a training package designed to take the student from site survey and assessment, to construction drawings, to permitting. The course addresses commercial applications and complex residential designs with heavy emphasis on meeting or exceeding a customer’s expectations through innovative and efficient design.

Students who are accepted for this 2 day course will already have taken a basic PV design course or have NABCEP certification. This prerequisite will allow more interactive instruction than the basic courses and each student will complete their own practical design assignment from site survey to presentation drawings to permitting package. Each student will experience the design process rather than simply be taught the design process.

Topics covered in this advanced PV systems design course include:

- Advanced surveying tools including the Sun Eye 210 and Solar Pathfinder
- Advanced design tools including Google Earth, Google Sketch Up, AutoCAD and PV*SOL
- Design document production such as DD Design Development Drawings, SD Schematic Design and CD Construction Documents.
- The permitting process including NEC Reference for Plan Reviewers, Education of AHJ and Drawing Approval.
- System commissioning such as the preparation of the Commissioning Report, LEED, documentation and completion of the system handbook.

Infinite Solar’s NABCEP approved instructors will be leading the students through a real life example of a small commercial application that will uniquely position them to step up to more complex designs or step down to simpler residential applications. The focus of the course is to be able to apply the design techniques taught to the specific requirements of the customer.

Infinite Solar Inc knows there is no such thing as a “cookie cutter” design that can be applied to every project consequently the emphasis is not on learning a specific design but rather learning the tools so students can meet every unique design challenge effectively.

The addition of the 2 day Advanced PV Systems Design course to Infinite Solar’s curriculum is further evidence of their commitment to maintaining their position as the premiere provider of solar electric training in North America. Serving beginners and experienced professionals alike, Infinite Solar Inc is providing an important service by insuring that the solar electric industry has a source of training that will allow consistent and professional services.

Located in Philadelphia, Infinite Solar has provided training to solar PV beginners and veterans alike from all over the country and Canada. The school’s unique training facility includes a full size, enclosed mock up of a roof meaning that the students get effective hands on, learning by doing instruction as well as comprehensive classroom presentations.
