Leading Internet streaming talk radio broadcaster reports 1st Quarter 2013 increase in mobile and tablet talk radio listeners of 34.43% compared to 4th Quarter 2012 results.

VoiceAmerica the world leader in online media broadcasting and the largest producer and distributor of live internet based talk radio and TV, delivering over 1,000 hours of programming weekly on its VoiceAmerica™ Network today announced a 34.43% increase in mobile and tablet traffic in the first quarter of 2013.

Arbitron reports that 20% of American cell phone owners have listened to online radio in their car, a number most certainly to increase as auto manufacturers and telecom providers continue to integrate streaming capabilities as standard equipment in new models.
Additionally, Arbitron reports that monthly online radio listenership in the United States will continue its upward growth trajectory in 2013 increasing to over 120 million Americans who listen to online radio at least once per month, or approximately 45% of the total listening population. Arbitron estimates that 2013 weekly Time Spent Listening (TSL) will increase to nearly 12 hours per week. By contrast AM/FM radio accounts for 243 million listeners who spend approximately 2 hours per day listening.
"The great thing about the growing smartphone and tablet listener space is we're beginning to see our return listeners 'binge listening' by taking advantage of our on demand archive of past shows and listening throughout the day as they take our originally programed talk radio content with them from the office to the car to the gym and back home again," said Spenard.
