A new application called "Healow" allows people to use these smartphones to play a larger role in their health care experience, and New York's Dr. Elbert St. Claire recently sat down to describe the numerous patient-side benefits it offers.
"As our practice is dedicated to providing the highest level of care we possibly can, it was important for us to find a way for people to quickly and easily access their medical information," Dr. St. Claire explains. "Healow affords people who are on-the-go the ability to access their patient portal with ease, putting them in control of their health care experience."
Speaking on what exactly Healow is, Dr. St. Claire offers, "Healow, which stands for Health and Online Wellness, is an application that allows people to access their patient portals through the use of a smartphone. It can be used to access any and all relevant medical information, like medical records, lab results, medication lists, and more. It's a secure and convenient solution for patients who don't always have the time to sit down at a computer and visit their patient portal."
"The benefits of Healow are numerous," Dr. St. Claire adds. "People can not only access their own accounts through this application, but those of spouses, children, and more. It allows for secure communication with the doctor's office, and offers the ability to schedule appointments and receive important reminders. Healow even organizes medications, offering names, photos, and reminders to keep people alert and informed. Essentially, it encourages people to take an active role in their health care experience, which greatly benefits both the doctor and people."
Offering his thoughts on what the emergence of Healow means for his practice, Dr. St. Claire concluded with this: "This application offers an innovative way for people to stay connected with their doctors, and it is our hope that it will encourage people to take a more active role in their health care experience."
