Breast reconstruction is usually performed after a breast cancer related mastectomy to improve a patient's appearance and state of mind. Board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Nolan Karp reports that using fat grafts is a natural and effective method of surgically reconstructing the breasts to fit every patient's needs.
"Breast reconstruction can be done in one of two ways," Dr. Karp reports. "Using a breast implant is one possibility, and the other is autologous tissue-based breast reconstruction. The first is similar to breast augmentation procedures, but the latter is a more natural approach to restoring the area.
