While everyone wants to maintain a youthful look for as long as possible, many also worry about receiving anti-aging treatments that will cause them to look unnatural. Dermatologist Dr. Jennifer Reichel was on hand to discuss the latest treatment innovation offered at Pacific Dermatology & Cosmetic Center in Seattle.
While Botox injections are still among the most common cosmetics procedures offered today, Dr. Reichel explains that many of her patients now seek treatments that offer more subtle results. "Over the past few years, I have noticed that many of my patients, in their 30s and 40s, are shying away from looking too frozen," says Dr. Reichel, "They want to be able to have some movement in their upper face and look more natural."
In response to her patients' requests, Dr. Reichel introduced "Botox LITE" into her practice. A technique now used by many cosmetic dermatologists, Botox LITE uses fewer units of Botox per area, with doctors injecting just enough to problem areas for muscles to relax. Once the muscles are relaxed, Wrinkles and lines around the face become softer and smoother. With fewer Botox units used with the LITE treatment, patients are also able to retain normal facial mobility and expressions. Treatments typically last 3 to 4 months, and patients are advised to let all facial movements return before seeking more treatments.
"My 30 and 40 year olds love it," says Dr. Reichel of the results, "Plus it saves them some cash. It isn't really national research, but it is here at Pacific Dermatology & Cosmetic Center."
Dr. Reichel has advanced fellowship training in Botox, liposuction, Mohs Micrographic skin cancer surgery, facial rejuvenation, tissue filler and lasers, and eyelid lifts. Fellowship trained by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and the American College of Mohs Surgery, Dr. Reichel graduated from her fellowship in 2005.
