While most people don't mind getting older, few want any visual reminders of their age, such as wrinkles or saggy skin, to show. Long Island plastic surgeon Dr. Mark D. Epstein sits down to share his views on the well-known injectable wrinkle filler, Radiesse.

During treatment, Radiesse is injected to the targeted area with a small needle. The procedure is done in a doctor's office under local anesthesia, and is usually completed within 10 minutes. One of the greatest advantage to Radiesse is that just one treatment lasts a year, or longer, according to Dr. Epstein. The treatment is quick, but patients see results immediately. Oftentimes, patients request a second treatment so that they can extend their results even further.
Although minimal, there are a few side-effects to the procedure. Some patients may experience irritation or bruising at the site of the injection. However, Dr. Epstein notes that these side-effects are normally very mild, and disappear on their own within days. Most patients who receive an injection are able to resume normal activities almost immediately.
