Mackay’s Self catering Scotland are proud to have added a range of new cottages in Scotland for the 2011 season. The range of Scottish cottages runs from a bungalow to an 18th century Edinburgh town house. New locations cover all parts of Scotland; Skye, Fife, Edinburgh, Perthshire Argyll and all points between. These new properties make Mackay’s the best place to find Scotland holiday cottages.
One of the beautiful properties added this year is on Queen Street in Edinburgh’s prestigious New Town. This classical Georgian house was built in 1790 for Colonel Robert Hepburn, in a prime location today prized for its architecture, history and culture. Guests have the opportunity for a unique holiday experience in the newly refurbished garden apartment. Completely self contained, the apartment is well-proportioned and contemporary in style with much attention to detail and splendid original features. A delightful characteristic is the private courtyard patio to the rear where guests can sit out and relax after a busy day's exploring.
Alternatively why not enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the Isle of Skye. In a superbly unique location, in one of the most scenic and peaceful areas of Skye, this charming Scottish cottage will appeal to anyone looking to enjoy a quiet, tranquil break with a true feel of 'getting away from it all'. The cottage can only be accessed from a parking bay by a swing footbridge over the River Brittle and a 200 yard uphill footpath - the walk is rewarded by stunning views of the towering Cuillins rising steeply from the shore. The conservatory and garden overlook this view. Below the cottage the river enters the sea and there is a beach with naturally dark sand.
Should you be hunting for a creature from the deep or just want to enjoy Scotland’s great outdoors. Mackay’s now offer Scottish cottage in an elevated position, enjoying stunning views of Loch Ness and the distant Mountains, this unique, detached cottage has a rustic timber exterior complemented by a charming modern interior. Backing on to 5 acres of unspoiled woodland with a pretty pathway leading to the village less than a mile away.
On a larger scale beautifully situated in the peaceful village of Grandtully lying in wooded surroundings on the side of the River Tay in the heart of Highland Perthshire., this substantial old schoolhouse has been totally renovated to provide every modern convenience, whilst retaining the original character and atmosphere. Rooms are tastefully decorated and attractively furnished, the spacious, bright living room has an open fire to add to the ambience and the dining room has garden doors for drinks on the patio or al-fresco dining.
